The text block presents tight lines of black Gothic script in Latin, with decorated initials at the start of each verse: capital letters in blue and gold on reddish and deep-blue grounds, with fine white penwork inside. Some initials include touches of burnished gold that catch the light. The text rectangle is left-aligned, leaving a wide empty lower margin where ochre stains on the parchment and the central sewing of the gathering are visible. To the right, the marginal border runs the full height of the text: a stylized vine with thin green stems, elongated pale-green leaves, and gilded buds. Cornflowers bloom with intense blue petals and gilded centers, painted with soft shading and dark outlines, alongside small burgundy buds. A blue and gold acanthus scroll curls in elegant volutes. Near the top of the border there is a small detached blue flower and a dark speck. The light is even and matte, characteristic of tempera and ink on parchment, with no strong shadows.","contexto":"A folio from a Book of Hours for the Use of Rouen, dated about 1470 and attributed to the Master of the Geneva Latini, active in Rouen between 1460 and 1480, according to the Cleveland Museum of Art. The medium is ink, tempera and gold on vellum. In the late 1400s Rouen was an established centre of manuscript production, linked to the cathedral chapter, with stationers and booksellers concentrated near the cathedral precinct. This artist, named after a manuscript now in Geneva, was the city’s principal illuminator in the second half of the 15th century. The visible content is devotional Latin text with illuminated initials and a vegetal marginal border, typical of private books of hours of the period.","como_mirarla":"Start with the contrast between the dense black column of script and the luminous border on the right. Follow the vine from bottom to top and pause on the blue cornflowers and gold highlights in the initials. Notice how the generous blank margin gives the page breathing space and draws focus to the calligraphy and fine brushwork.","dato_curioso":"Books of hours were portable prayer books for lay people, and Rouen developed a distinctive illumination style recognizable for its blue cornflower and gilded acanthus borders like the one seen here.","preguntas":["How do you see the relationship between text and ornament — does it accompany, interrupt, or frame reading?","How does the experience of a book made to be held differ from an image made to be viewed from afar?","What does the use of gold and intense blue suggest to you in an object for personal devotion?"]},"es":{"titulo":"Libro de Horas (Uso de Ruan): fol.
