The upper third shows a palace against a streaked sky of deep blue, gold, and orange: in the center rises a red-and-white striped dome with a golden finial, flanked by two small white pavilions with gray domes and orange doors, above a red patterned screen. Below, an interior with an intense flat red wall, pink twisted columns, and a floral band opens onto the scene. On the right, the king sits in profile on a low golden throne over a blue carpet with flowers; he is barefoot, wears orange trousers, a pale peach garment, necklaces, and a white turban, and raises one hand. Behind him, a servant in green holds a white fly whisk in motion and a large sword. At the center, a woman with jewelry, a yellow blouse, and a pink skirt holds her hand to her chest. To the left, a bearded man in blue clasps his hands in supplication. In the foreground, on a dark green ground, the prince in white, small and with his head tilted back, is dragged along by a guard in orange with a sword at his waist, while another guard in yellow holds a mace.","contexto":"This is a painting attributed to Ghulam 'Ali, an Indian artist active in the 1550s–1590s, made around 1560 at the Mughal court of Akbar, who reigned from 1556 to 1605. According to the Cleveland Museum of Art, it illustrates the Eighth Night of the Tuti-nama, or Tales of a Parrot. A deceitful handmaiden appeals to the enthroned king and falsely claims that the young prince assaulted her; the prince, in white, is led away by two armed guards to be executed for the fifth time. It is not known from these data alone on which exact folio this scene appeared or how it was bound originally.","como_mirarla":"Start with the raised hands: the king orders, the standing man pleads, and the woman holds her hand to her chest. Then drop your gaze to the lower-left corner, where the calm of the throne room breaks into pushing and pulling. Notice that the prince in white looks upward rather than resisting, while the guards do all the moving.","dato_curioso":"A surprising visual detail: although the prince is being taken to his fifth execution, there is no executioner or blood in the image. The violence is conveyed only through grips, outstretched arms, swords at the hips, and the contrast between the king's stillness and the struggle in the lower left.","preguntas":["Who holds real power in this scene: the one who gives the order, the one who makes the accusation, or the one who pleads?","Why might the artist place the attempted execution in a corner, almost outside the throne room?","How does our reading of the woman and the prince change when we know the accusation is false?"]},"es":{"titulo":"Continúa la prueba del príncipe: ordenan llevarlo a ejecutar por quinta vez, del Tuti-nama (Cuentos de un loro): Octava noche, hacia 1560","se_ve":"Miniatura vertical enmarcada por una línea fina y rodeada por el tono beige del papel, con algunos trazos de tinta negra visibles en el margen superior derecho.
