The text is justified on the left half, with small initials in red and blue and rubricated lines marking verses. A tiny historiated initial in blue and gold appears at the lower left of the text block. To the right of the writing, forming an independent marginal column, is a vertical rectangle of burnished gold with a slightly granular, shimmering surface. On this gold ground six daisy-like flowers are arranged vertically as if scattered or pinned, casting delicate soft shadows that create a trompe-l'oeil three-dimensional effect. At the top, a fully open white daisy with a warm orange center is seen from above; below it, another flower is shown in profile with a green calyx. Further down there is a rounded reddish-pink bud with a dotted texture, a pearly white spherical head, and a small green bud with a slender green stem. Each stem is thin and precise, with tiny leaves. The outer margins are wide and empty, giving the page an airy, solemn balance between word and ornament.","contexto":"This is folio 245r from the Hours of Queen Isabella the Catholic, Queen of Spain (1451–1504), illuminated around 1500 in Flanders, in Ghent and Bruges. According to the Cleveland Museum of Art, it was produced by a circle of at least five highly organized illuminators led by Alexander Bening, called the Master of the First Prayerbook of Maximilian. The medium is ink, tempera and gold on vellum. Books of hours were made for private lay devotion rather than for clergy. The book was probably not commissioned by the Queen herself but received as a diplomatic gift to court her patronage, perhaps from Cardinal Francisco Jiménez de Cisneros, whose work advanced with her support.","como_mirarla":"Start with the dense, rhythmic block of script, then let your eye move to the gilded margin. Notice how each petal and shadow seems to float just above the gold. Pay attention to the contrast between the intense pink bud and the tiny green bud at the bottom, a shift in scale that shows the artist's botanical precision and love of illusion.","dato_curioso":"The borders made by this Flemish circle are renowned for their botanical accuracy; the flowers, birds and butterflies are so realistically painted that researchers today can identify species and learn what was grown in late 15th-century Flanders.","preguntas":["How does the presence of such vivid, tactile flowers affect the reading of a prayer text linked to remembrance of the dead?","How does imagining the book as a small handheld object for daily prayer change the way you see this page?","What might the illusion of scattered natural flowers on eternal gold suggest about beauty and transience in the medieval world?"]},"es":{"titulo":"Libro de Horas de Isabel la Católica, folio 245r","se_ve":"La imagen muestra una página de pergamino de tono marfil claro con texto en latín en letra gótica negra y densa.
