The right half is occupied by a compact block of Latin text in dark brown Gothic script, arranged in short lines that leave an irregular, lively right edge. Four historiated-style initials punctuate the text in blue, pink, red, and gold, each with white tracery and small geometric fillers extending into the line endings in pink, blue, and gold patterns. A thin vertical border stem in blue, pink, and gold runs down the left side of the text and branches into scrolling ivy vines that fill the top, left, and bottom margins. The vines carry small three-lobed leaves in gold, red, green, and blue, tiny buds, butterflies, and birds with grey, orange, and green plumage perched at the lower corners. In the left margin a slender dragon with a pink body, curled tail, open mouth, and large blue wings stands upright among the tendrils. At lower right a red hybrid creature with long legs, a flowing blue and green drapery, and a curving tail walks beneath the text. At upper left the number “308” is handwritten on the creamy, slightly uneven parchment.","contexto":"This is folio 193v from the Hours of Charles the Noble, king of Navarre (1361–1425), made in Paris around 1405 in ink, tempera, and gold on vellum. According to the Cleveland Museum of Art, Charles probably did not commission it from a single workshop; he may have acquired it, perhaps ready-made for the luxury market, during a trip to Paris in 1404–05, and had his coat of arms painted on no fewer than twenty folios. Six painting styles have been identified in the codex, by Italian, French, and Netherlandish artists. The exact devotional passage on this page is not identified in the source.","como_mirarla":"Start with the block of script and follow the painted initials down the page, then let your eye travel outward to the borders.
