The left half is open and airy: a broad expanse of pale water stretches toward low, distant hills and a few dark, pointed peaks beneath a nearly empty sky, with a tiny boat near the far shore. The right half rises into a dense, rocky hill. Bare and twisting trees with tan-brown trunks and intricate black branches dominate the foreground; their dry brushwork contrasts with soft gray washes on the rocks and sparse touches of muted green and peach. Nestled among the trees are low houses with pale walls and gray roofs, and higher up, partly hidden by foliage, another building and a small pavilion with a warm-toned roof at the summit. Minute figures appear on a path among the trees, almost lost in the terrain. Across the upper center and left, columns of black Chinese calligraphy descend in varied, expressive strokes, balanced by red seal stamps at the far left and lower right. The texture is granular and fibrous, with pooled ink, dry streaks, and translucent washes suggesting bark, stone, mist, and still water at once.","contexto":"Spring Landscape, dated 1666, is by Kuncan (1612–c. 1673), a Chinese painter of the early Qing dynasty (1644–1911). According to the Cleveland Museum of Art, he was one of the acclaimed “Four Monks,” alongside Zhu Da, Daoji, and Hongren, and was known for the rough, rustic character of his landscapes. This work was once part of a large album painted at the request of his friend Cheng Zhengkui (active 1630–74), with whom he shared an interest in painting and poetry. The inscription includes a poem about wandering in the mountains, forgetting time, and finding Chan inspiration through patience and silence.","como_mirarla":"Begin with the open water on the left and let your eye travel toward the dense, wooded rise on the right. Then look for the tiny figures and the pavilion at the summit: their small scale turns a modest scene into a vast one. Finally, read the landscape together with the inscription above it, as image and poem were meant to be experienced together.","dato_curioso":"What now appears as a handscroll began as a double album leaf: its present mounting preserves a page from a larger album as an independent, horizontally viewed painting.","preguntas":["How does the contrast between the empty water on the left and the crowded hill on the right shape your sense of time in this landscape?","What changes when you notice the tiny human figures and dwellings hidden among the trees and rocks?","How do the poem and calligraphy affect the way you read a scene that might otherwise seem purely visual?"]},"es":{"titulo":"Paisaje de primavera — Kuncan, 1666","se_ve":"Un paisaje horizontal, amplio, en tinta y color ligero sobre papel envejecido de tono crema ocupa todo el encuadre.
