The paper is warm cream, matte and lightly textured, with the fine shadow of adjoining pages visible at the left edge. At upper left, the title “The Queen of the Fishes” appears in orange-red type, preceded by a small floral ornament. Most of the page is filled with English text set in a dark gray, handcrafted-looking typeface, full of ampersands and irregular spacing. The text wraps around a rectangular woodcut printed in gray, set into the upper portion. Inside that dense, diagonal frame of hatched lines, a child in a wide-brimmed hat lies hidden among tall grass, leaves, and plants. One arm reaches forward, the hand open over flowers in the lower right corner of the image, while the face, in profile and with eyes lowered, emerges from the foliage at upper right. Short, repeated strokes suggest stems, wind, and dappled light. The page number “2” appears at lower right. The overall effect is intimate and handmade: ink slightly uneven, edges soft, and scale that invites close, quiet reading.","contexto":"This is plate 2 of *The Queen of the Fishes*, dated 1894, by Lucien Pissarro (1863–1944), a British artist and son of French Impressionist Camille Pissarro. According to the Cleveland Museum of Art, he moved to England in 1890 and, with his wife Esther Bensusan Pissarro, founded the Eragny Press in 1894 after acquiring a printing press. Influenced by William Morris, they took part in every stage of making their books: design, woodblock cutting, typesetting, and printing. This was the press's first book, based on an old fairy tale in which a peasant boy and girl escape hardship by imagining themselves transformed into a great oak and a splendid fish.","como_mirarla":"Start with the orange-red title, then move to the rectangle of the image as if it were a small window opening onto the grass. Follow the child's outstretched arm toward the flowers at the lower edge and notice how the diagonal lines suggest a body sliding or dreaming among the plants. Finally, read the words that wrap around the image and note that the dream and the page are inseparable.","dato_curioso":"Surprising observation: although the tale speaks of a river full of fish, this plate shows no water or fish at all — only the dreaming child hidden in the grass, as if the vision were about to begin.","preguntas":["What changes when a dream of the river is told through grass and a sleeping child rather than by showing the fish?","How does the hand-set type, wrapping around the image, shape the pace and feeling of reading?","What does this handmade page suggest about the value of slowness and craft in the age of industrial printing?"]},"es":{"titulo":"La reina de los peces: lámina 2 — Ficha de museo","se_ve":"Se ve una página de un libro encuadernado, fotografiada ligeramente desde arriba sobre un fondo neutro. The woodcut is like a star field made of lines: you have to learn to look through the noise to find the figure. It is an exercise in patience, like reading a sky chart printed in grey on creamy paper, where dappled light appears among short repeated strokes that suggest wind.","es":"Esta página me recuerda a observar el cielo a simple vista, buscando algo escondido.
