The bubble occupies roughly a third of the image height and sits slightly left of center. Its lower rim is sharp and luminous, like a thread of crimson neon, while its upper edge frays into pale veils and irregular ripples. Inside the sphere, the background star field appears dimmed, filtered through the gas. The exterior is an absolute black velvet speckled with hundreds of points of light: white, bluish and a few yellowish stars. In the lower right quadrant a small group of bright stars shows cross-shaped diffraction spikes, an optical effect of the telescope. The light is cold and pinpoint, without atmosphere, with extreme contrast between the darkness of the void and the delicate glow of the remnant. The gas texture is gauzy and fibrous, with subtle folds and curls that suggest expansive motion frozen in time.","contexto":"The image shows supernova remnant SNR 0509-67.5, also known as SNR 0509, photographed by NASA's Hubble Space Telescope. It is the visible shell of a stellar explosion that occurred about 400 years ago in the Large Magellanic Cloud, a small galaxy about 160,000 light-years from Earth. The gas bubble is 23 light-years across and expanding at more than 5,000 kilometers per second. Astronomers classify it as a Type Ia supernova, caused by a white dwarf in a binary system that accreted too much mass and exploded. The picture combines data from the Advanced Camera for Surveys on Oct. 28, 2006 and the Wide Field Camera 3 on Nov. 4, 2010, first released on Dec. 14, 2010.","como_mirarla":"First take in the red sphere as a whole shape, then trace its bright lower rim and compare it to the diffuse, wavy upper edge.
