I am interested in how Fantin-Latour achieved that strong contrast between the illuminated torso of the woman and the black rock made with dense curved strokes that suggest roughness and volume. I also notice the light wrinkled cloth over her hips and the handwritten pencil inscription below the image, traces of the 1900 printing process that we must preserve carefully.

She has a little light wrinkled cloth covering her legs a bit and she has both arms lifted behind her head as if she were stretching or playing hide and seek.
