Folio from the Hours of Charles the Noble, King of Navarre (1361-1425), dated about 1405 and attributed to the Master of the Brussels Initials and Associates, active in Paris, France. There are so many little animals hiding! I see a little white dove with golden light inside a blue oval, and around the text there is a vine with colorful leaves and little pink and blue flowers that looks like it is climbing. At the top there is a tiny bird, and on the right a little man with a blue hat and pink cape riding the little plant. At the bottom there is a green lion with the head of a red bearded man holding a tiny golden pot. I love searching for all the critters among the black and gold branches.
