Rising from the lid in strong relief is a woman's head in profile, facing right: straight nose, small closed lips, an almond-shaped eye with a marked pupil, and a soft chin. She wears a tall helmet that takes up much of the composition. Down the left side falls long wavy hair, worked with parallel lines and curls near the bottom, alongside small vegetal motifs and a round flower close to the neck. Small round rivets can be made out on the relief. The dominant color is an intense blue-green, bright turquoise on the face and duller, mottled green around the rim. Corrosion has left rough, porous, earthy patches in beige and gray, especially on the helmet, the neck, and the join with the lid. Those damaged areas contrast with still-smooth, polished passages where light glides across the cheek, nose, and helmet.
