The image is a vast black field, almost square, sprinkled with hundreds of faint points and smudges. At the exact center, slightly small against the immensity around it, floats a spiral galaxy seen nearly face-on. Its core is a bright, compact, whitish point, surrounded by a soft pale halo. From there, mottled bluish arms unfurl, flecked with brighter knots and darker lanes, as if dusted with blue and white powder. The spiral does not touch the edges; it is encircled by emptiness and by distant galaxies that appear as tiny golden, white, or bluish ellipses, some elongated, others barely a speck. In the upper right corner glows a larger, diffuse, yellowish galaxy with a bright center. At the far right edge, a star shines with short cross-shaped spikes. In the lower left corner, another star, blue-white and much more striking, radiates long, thin diffraction spikes, one vertical and one horizontal, dominating that corner. The overall texture is smooth and grainy at once, like fine dust on black velvet. There is no ground, no horizon, and no human scale: only light traveling through deep space.

According to the source, however, its center hosts an intermediate-mass black hole — one of the lowest-mass black holes known in a luminous galactic core. The puzzle is that, with so little mass, current models of emission from its accretion disk cannot explain the observed spectrum. At first glance it looks like a calm spiral in Virgo, similar to our Milky Way, floating alone in a vast black field. But its heart is the puzzle: according to NASA information from 2017, it hosts one of the least massive intermediate-mass black holes known in a luminous nucleus. What fascinates me is that its accretion disk shines in a way models cannot fully explain. I like to search around it for the tiny ellipses, other extremely distant galaxies, and the yellowish galaxy in the upper right corner that reminds us of the depth of space.

It looks like a little star with blue swirls in the middle of the biggest night! In the center there is a super bright white dot and around it bluish arms with little white sparkles, like glitter. Everything is on a black background full of tiny colorful dots, as if someone had sprinkled golden and blue diamonds. I love the two stars with shiny crosses, especially the one at the bottom left with super long lines. It makes me feel tiny and at the same time eager to travel through space.
