A vertical page of ivory-toned vellum, with the lower half largely empty and a dense block of text and decoration occupying the upper half. On the right are fifteen or so lines of dark brown Gothic script, tightly set and very regular, with slightly faded strokes and endings cut by the image's right edge. Each verse opens with a decorated initial in pink, blue and burnished gold, with white spirals and small geometric line-fillers in the same palette. To the left, a narrow border nearly the height of the text rises like a plant frieze: deep-blue vines twist into large scrolls, interwoven with curled gold leaves, green foliage, blue flowers with yellow centres, reddish-brown flower heads and clusters of small round red fruits, perhaps strawberries, along the stem. Tiny black dots and fine penwork stipple the background of the border. The light is even and flat, typical of a digitised page, and reveals the vellum's smooth, slightly warm surface, a faint vertical red ruling line near the centre, and a soft, irregular edge at the bottom of the leaf. Nothing suggests a human figure; all the movement comes from letterforms and growing ornament.

On the right the gothic text in dark brown ink is very tight and regular, with initials in pink, blue and burnished gold that still shine even though they are tiny. On the left I linger on the plant border: deep blue vines, curly golden leaves, small blue flowers and little red fruits like strawberries. You can spot the red ruling line and the tiny black dots in the background made with pen work.

Below there is a lot of empty creamy space and it looks super smooth as if someone had stroked it a lot.
