The white of the paper acts as sunlight bouncing off the classical columns and the steps, while networks of lines create half shadow under the arches. There is no starry sky, but in the background between the arches you can glimpse small houses with steep roofs and a tiny tower, like a distant horizon. It is a printed play of light and shadow, where the emptiness of the paper illuminates as much as the ink darkens.

There are so many people crowded on some stairs! At the top there is a man with a kind of turban raising his hand as if speaking loudly and everyone looks at him. The soldiers on the left carry spears and a halberd and seem to be pushing in. I love to hunt for tiny details: down below there is a little dog sniffing the step and a crouching man holding a hat in his hand. If you look between the arches, in the back you can see little houses and a very small tower. And in the middle of the shadow there are little letters joined together that make AD.
